Farmhouse Summer Ale by Flying Fish Brewing Company

Farmhouse Summer Ale by Flying Fish Brewing Company pours a beautiful golden yellow with a small but nice head and the aromas a mild and it is hard to tell if this is a golden ale or a Saison with the subtle spicy hints in both the aroma and the first sips. I noticed a hint of malt followed with an almost light hint of lemon and spice.  At only 4.6% AVB and with an IBU of 15.1 this makes for a very drinkable Summer ale that is only available in the very early months of Summer. Farmhouse Summer Ale by Flying Fish Brewing Company is very light but has a nice easy aroma and flavor for help to convert you mass produced beer drinkers to a quality ale. I look forward to trying many other Flying Fish Brewing Company brews as this and their Red are both really enjoyable.

Blonde Ale by Diamond Knot Brewing Company

Blonde Ale by Diamond Knot Brewing Company pours a golden yellow with a beautiful white foaming head that lingers for a few minutes and has a mild aroma with what seemed like a mild citrus more from the yeast in my opinion. At only 4.2% ABV and only 11 IBU using a very common domestic version of the German Hallertauer hop this is a very smooth Summer beer although it really would work year round as the first goto beer of the night. Many people report hint of biscuity flavors from the malts which I could see but I really think it is more of the wheat malts blended with the flaked corn and flaked barley. I also feel this would be a great craft beer to help covert friends from Buds and other mass produced light lager styles. Blonde Ale by Diamond Knot Brewing Company was a nice beer but I will be keeping my eyes open for Diamond Knot Brewing Company’s other great brews from IPAs to their Stout.

Hibiscus Gose by Boulevard Brewing company

Hibiscus Gose by Boulevard Brewing company pours a deep cooper color with a subtle hint of pink blended in, most likely from fresh hibiscus flower which is perfectly edible and also makes a very nice tea that tastes a lot like a sweet tart candy. Nice mild head and mild aroma but hard to put my finger on the exact smell although it could be a hint of tartness with a mild saltiness. I was excited to try this as I am a big fan of the hibiscus flower and regularly drink teas with hibiscus in them but sadly this is a bit more of a slightly sour and tart beer with a hint of vinegar a lot like an off kombucha tea with a subtle hint of salt, not bad but far from what I was expecting. Hibiscus Gose by Boulevard Brewing company comes in at a modest 4.2% ABV Gose style and only 11 IBU it is a mild session beer for the Summer months for those who prefer a more sour/tart type of beverage but don’t mind the hint of vinegar.

Last Change IPA by Weyerbacher brewery

Last Change IPA by Weyerbacher brewery is a a great IPA with tons of great hop flavors exploding from aroma to flavor from the Apollo hops, Centennial, Cascade, Columbus to Simcoe hops. Personally I am not a big fan of Weyerbacher based on trying many of their beers as everyone’s tastes are a bit different but Last Change IPA by Weyerbacher brewery is absolutely amazing and a great go to brew for any hophead. From the smoothness of the beer to the grapefruit aromas and flavors plus the nice piney and citrus notes it is simply a great craft brew and at only a 5.9% ABV with the 60 IBU this can be a session for people with a higher tolerance for alcohol in the slightly higher ABV brews.  First you must know that Weyerbacher brewery makes outstanding brews but Last Chance is just that for many homeless dogs and cats. Yes, you heard that correctly as you can check it out at this link where they take their profits and donate a considerable chunk to help homeless dogs and cats with almost $100k being donated as of this review. It really makes me just want to run out and grab another 6 pack knowing that I will enjoy a great tasting IPA and be helping out a great cause all at the same time.

Miss Bliss by Magic Hat Brewing Company

Miss Bliss by Magic Hat Brewing Company is “Wry Ale with Spices” according to Magic Hat and it is a very nice and mild craft beer made with  rye and caramel malts with just the right amounts of coriander and orange peel. This is a very sessionable ale at 4.5% ABV with just a hint of bitter at 20 IBU from the always smooth Hallertau hops, all with a nice malt backbone. The Miss Bliss by Magic Hat Brewing Company is currently only available in the Night of the Living Dead Variety Packs from Magic Hat which also includes: Note Quite Pale Ale #9; Fall Seasonal Wilhelm Scream Pumpkin Ale; 1st Beer We (they) Ever Brewed Magic Hat Ale (Irish style red); and of course Miss Bliss Wry Ale with Spices.
